Lord Provost of Glasgow city visits sister city of Lilongwe

Lord Provost of Glasgow city council,a sister city to the Lilongwe city council paid a courtesy visit to some

establishments that are supported by the Glasow city council in Lilongwe.Amongst other projects the Lord Provost

visited the Wenela IT trainning center ,that caters for Lilongwe city council staff and primary school teachers under the Lilongwe District Educatiion office. His Worship the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Lilongwe accompanied the Glascow team.

The tour was made on 24th October,2014.

Lilongwe City Donates Fire Engine To Kasungu Municipal Council

The Lilongwe City Council donated 1 fire engine to Kasungu Municipal coucnil

on 7th November,2014. This donation was in recocgnition of steep efforts

that councils have in responding to accidents caused by fire and those caused

by road accidents that require specialised equipments.

to Kasungu Municipal Mayor, Her Worship councillor

Irene Katola.

Lilongwe Mayors Trophy Launch

The Lilongwe City Mayor's Trophy was launched on Saturday 1 November,2014 at Nannkhaka stadium.

The Lilongwe City Council has for the past 10 years seen the absence of the mayor's office hence the organization

0f the Mayor's trophy was not recognized.

The mayors trophy puts much  focus on children aged 6 to 12 from various  primary schools in Lilongwe.The primary schools have been divided in 8 zones and the competition starts at zone level and thereafter the Inter-zone competition is conducted.

The Lilongwe Mayor's trophy launch was done in collaboration with FIFA, FAM, The Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sports and the hosts, Lilongwe City Council. This is an anual event.

REMOVAL OF VENDORS FROM NON DESIGNATED TRADING AREAS

 Lilongwe City Council would like to inform the general public and all vendors trading in non designated areas within the

 City streets and boundaries to move out before 30th September,2014.

 The Key targeted groups are as follows:

                                      • Tailors (working in khondes)
                                      • Knitters (working in khondes)
                                  • Flower sellers along major roads
                                  •  Car wash
                                  • Tyre fitters
                                  • Airtime sellers (trading on tables)
                                  • Soft drinks sellers (trading in khondes)

The targeted groups include those playing their trades in CBD as well as in all locations in

the city. The Lilongwe City Council advises the vendors to take heed of this notice and act appropriately in the interest

of cooperation, safety and peace.
